The gun shot was fired from the parking lot of the hotel by James Earl Ray. The gun shot hit his face and neck. A hour later, at 7:05, he was pronounced dead. His assassinn had already fled by this time. The police later arressted him in an airport.

I think this because he was the leader of the movemnet and now he was gone. This caused instant chaos. Riots broke out all over the south. But the movement didn't stop there. In 1988 President Reagan sign. In 1991, President Bush signed the Civil Rights Act of 1991. So as you can the movement didn't lose any strength with loss or age. So even though Martin Luther King was killed, and others died for the movement, it continued with every new generation.
